Manager Accounting

Role Overview:

My client is a Multinational Renewable Energy business with operations throughout the US.

Would you like to join an esteemed Finance department as the Manager of accounting, where you'll lead pivotal project accounting initiatives across various stages of large-scale renewable energy projects?

Reporting directly to the Controller, this role encompasses overseeing accounting team operations, enhancing financial reporting processes, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to ensure the success of renewable energy assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and guide the Accounting team in managing day-to-day responsibilities, ensuring efficient prioritization of tasks.
  2. Review and approve journal entries for period-end close, encompassing payments, accruals, leases, and intercompany transactions.
  3. Oversee fixed asset accounting processes, adhering to GAAP and company policies.
  4. Provide expertise in revenue recognition (ASC 606), offering guidance on accounting treatment and systems.
  5. Lead monthly billing activities for clients and inter-company transactions.
  6. Drive financial statement closing for revenue transactions, reviewing journal entries and reconciliations.
  7. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring the accuracy of account balances.
  8. Analyze and review operations and maintenance expenditures, conducting monthly flux analysis.
  9. Maintain knowledge of GAAP, recommending process changes as necessary.
  10. Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes.
  11. Mentor and evaluate a team of senior and staff accountants, fostering professional development.
  12. Contribute to the implementation and optimization of financial systems.
  13. Participate in special projects, collaborating with other teams to drive process improvements.
  14. Support financial reporting activities, providing information and analysis to external auditors.
  15. Assist with tax compliance activities, furnishing documentation to external tax service providers.
  16. Cultivate cross-functional relationships, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  17. Provide support for project finance, managers, and controls, offering timely and transparent information.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, CPA, CMA, or CGMA preferred.
  • Proficiency in project accounting and commercial contract terms.
  • Experience with ERP systems; knowledge of construction management systems advantageous.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, complex environments.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong planning abilities.
  • Experience in a multi-entity corporate structure.
  • Preference for experience in renewable energy, construction, or related industries.
