Legal Counsel
Position: Legal CounselReporting to: Head of Legal

Purpose:
Reporting to the Head of Legal, your role will be pivotal in ensuring effective legal risk management aligned with the Groups risk profile and financial objectives, with a focus on Group investment services and SIPP products.
Responsibilities:
- Review, draft, negotiate and advise on Group contracts in line with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the Legal Team on Group terms and conditions, addressing regulatory and client considerations.
- Provide legal support to Risk & Compliance and business unit teams, offering day-to-day advice and contributing to committees and working groups.
- Maintain knowledge on Group services, SIPP offerings, and relevant regulatory matters.
- Take accountability for the accuracy and timely completion of legal deliverables.
- Identify and escalate issues, proposing solutions for resolution.
- Ensure timescales for legal deliverables are consistently maintained, prioritising tasks effectively.
- Maintain clear records and an audit trail of version control, advice, and issue resolution.
- Contribute to ensuring the integrity of the Group contracts repository and matter management data.
- Identify opportunities to share knowledge and enhance the delivery of legal services.
- Assist team members as required, collaborating effectively with colleagues.
- Excellent commercial lawyer with expertise in contract law, including customer terms.
- Prior industry experience with knowledge of FCA regulatory framework for retail investment advice, platform, and SIPP products.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word.
- Core contract review, drafting, negotiating, and advice skillset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for the relevant audience.
- Strong analytical skills, verifying against drafting and other relevant information sources.
- Proactive and pragmatic in risk and stakeholder management.
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities under pressure effectively.
- UK qualified solicitor with a strong academic background.
