Our  client is a global Asset Management service provider, which includes an expanding ACD/AFM offering from its London base. 

Our client is an on-going growth success story with $2tn in AUM, servicing 600+ traditional and alternative asset management clients from key locations including Dublin, London, Lisbon, Luxembourg, Zurich, New York, and Cayman and Channel Islands.

The Opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced funds lawyer to join a successful organisation as In-House Funds Counsel with:

This person will join at Associate Director or Director level DOE

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Draft, review and negotiate a range of fund and constitutional documentation and investment related agreements including with fund  administrators, depositaries, distributors, trading and brokerage counterparties, and 
  • data and technology providers.
  • Advise and assist on the formation, launch, registration and distribution of various  fund structures (OEIC, ACS, LPs, EUUT, UT) - both authorised and unauthorised funds.
  • Advise and assist with the on-boarding of new investment manager clients to the organisation’s growing ACD/AFM service offering and fund platform.
  • Support the Sales and Client Relationship Management team by resolving legal  queries from clients and counterparties with a consistent, “best-in-class” level of  service
  • Stay up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments to advise the firm  on their implications for the business and our asset managers and investors. 
  • Review existing policies, procedures, and processes from a legal and regulatory  perspective.  
  • Effectively manage relationships with external counsel. 
  • Successfully collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in cross-functional  projects.
  • Attend and present at pitch and client meetings as a fund SME, representing the firm and showcasing its service offering to win business. 
  • Attend and present at board meetings representing the legal function.
  • Present internally to colleagues on relevant legal and regulatory updates as  appropriate.
  • Promote the firm and attend relevant industry and networking events as required.
  • Assist on ad hoc legal and regulatory projects as required
Key Skills & Competencies:
  • Qualified lawyer. 5+ years' PQE in a law firm, authorised corporate director /  authorised fund manager, asset manager or other relevant firm within the UK funds industry.
  • Experience of both UK authorised funds (UCITS, NURS, QIS, LTAFs) and unauthorised UK funds  required.
  • Previous experience with the UK FCA.
  • Strong understanding of a broad range of investment fund vehicles and investment strategies.
  • Familiarity with the full fund life cycle from product design, to approval, launch and distribution to wind-down.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. 
  • Strong team player but also self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial minded.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills - with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Energetic, positive, solutions-focused.
