Meet The Team!
At Phoenix, we source and match the best people to work in the Professional Services Sector, and with our expertise it’s important that we also find the best people to join our growing team; the Phoenix Family!
To meet the team behind Phoenix, we’ve put together a short blog series so you can get to know our team and the people you should be connecting with…
Meet Orlaith O’Mahony at Phoenix.
Animal Obsessed, Accounting & Finance Consultant.
1. What do you do at Phoenix?
I am a Recruitment Consultant specialising in Accounting & Finance.
I joined the Phoenix team in January this year, after years of working in this industry in both Limerick and Dublin and completing my undergraduate and MA at the University of Limerick.
2.What sort of candidates do you focus on and which types of roles do you place?
My sole focus is roles within the Accounting and Finance space. These range from Junior roles - Mid-Senior roles and anyone applying for entry level roles for example trainee accountants, or part-qualified accountants.
The types of roles I cover include:
- Entry level Accountants
- Accounts assistant
- Accounts receivable
- Payroll specialists
- Payroll manager
3. Why did you join Phoenix and what is the best part about being part of the #PhoenixFamily?
I joined Phoenix because once I discovered the company, it became obvious that Phoenix are very “candidate - focused” as apposed to fee focused. I feel I matched with Phoenix’s company value of humanising the industry.
After completing my masters in 2018 I realised how difficult it was to seek the perfect job match. I realised I wanted to help people as I knew how tough this was. I’m a firm believer that relationship building is key.
The best part about being in the Phoenix team, is that everyone including Ed and Ruth are so approachable and supportive of one another. It’s obvious that everyone is committed to the same end goal - which is a great team to be a part of!
4. What are the most important aspects to look for when sourcing talent? Describe your top 3 aspects.
Personality is huge - Let this shine through!
Confidence - if you know you’re a match, you’ve got to back yourself.
Include figures and achievements in your CV. A stat or number will show the prospective employer that you are happy and comfortable with work load.
5.What do you look for when placing candidates?
It’s very dependent on the client and role I'm placing. If it’s a role within a smaller team, then personality is so important, as you need to make sure they are a complete fit! If it’s a larger client and a more widely spread team then the candidate has to be very academically driven.
6. Podcast/ TV/ Book recommendations?
Some of my favourite shows would be The Fall, Narcos, Breaking Bad, You and Insatiable. I would highly recommend you watch them all!
