So, Why Choose Phoenix?

Meet our Phoenix Family to find out more...

1. Tell us a bit about yourself Stephen - What's your background?

I am from Wexford and I have a BA in Finance specialising in Economics from Waterford Institute of Technology.  My background is in accounting. I have worked in companies based in Ireland and Canada.

My most recent role was as a Client Accountant in a stock trading firm which gave me a different perspective on the finance Industry.  I have now moved into financial recruitment because I believe the skills I have gained from home and abroad give me a unique view on the market which will help in placing candidates into suitable roles.

2. Why did you join the recruitment industry?

In the recruitment industry I have the opportunity to help people find their ideal career path.  I personally struggled with the daunting task of “my future” which every young person has to come to terms with.  As part of the newly qualified recruitment team at Phoenix I hope to ease some of the concerns that young professionals will have as they try to enter into the industry.

3. What makes the #PhoenixFamily different?

Phoenix appealed to me because of the emphasis the team put on the candidate. The line that stuck with me is “Long-term relationship not short term transaction”.  The #PhoenixFamily have created a welcoming environment for all, whether you are looking to make your first step into the industry or you are an expert in your relevant field.  I am proud to be part of the #PhoenixFamily.

4. What do you consider your biggest achievement to date?

Professionally - I was a key part of a team in my previous role where we implicated a new function to a system that took almost 1 year to launch. I put in many months of testing and developing with a small team to get the function ready.

Personally - I have played inter county football for Wexford.

5. What's the best piece of advice you've been given that you share with candidates?

Be open to new opportunities, you never know what’s around the corner and what direction your career can go in.
