Phoenix celebrates International Women’s Day
Our #PhoenixFamily was proud to attend an event dedicated to International Women’s Day, hosted by Dublin Chamber, Dublin Local Enterprise Office, IrishJobs.ie and Fujitsu.

The varied panel consisted of a number of inspiring women, each sharing their personal success stories to a roomful of 250 supportive women.

Orla Moran, General Manager at IrishJobs.ie, pointed out that 80% of female Millennials seek out diversity and inclusion in the workplace, according to a survey conducted by PwC.

Caragh O’Carroll, Distinguished Engineer with Fujitsu, shared her mission to encourage more young women to join the engineering and tech space as there are currently only 20% of women in this space.

Louise Phelan, CEO of Phelan Energy Group, who has been CEO for a number of large MNCs and sits on various boards, including Ryanair's, highlighted the importance of mentorship; reiterated by Lisa Cusack, a pilot with Aer Lingus, who said only 3% of pilots worldwide are women, so supporting others in your sphere is critical.

Entrepreneurs Laura McCarthy, Sofie Cafolla and Ailbhe Keane shared their experiences on setting up their own businesses in their twenties; again reinforcing the importance of relationship-building, both on- and off-line.
