Our Client, a distribution company with over 8000 products that services global clients have engaged us to support them in finding a new Business Development Manager to work in the West of Ireland territory selling into and managing accounts in the retail food services sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining new and existing business within your territory.
  • You will manage and grow a portfolio of customers in the food service sector.
  • To constantly seek new opportunities and expand the portfolio and generate new business through:
    • Prospecting new buyers and maximising sales.
    • Working with branded suppliers and own brand offering
  • You will monitor sales and activity and produce monthly reports detailing your areas with results.
  • Maintaining appropriate records on clients and sales activities.
  • Producing reports as required for the management team for review
  • Completing any customer reporting that may be required in a timely manner.


Customer service

  • Maintaining and growing existing portfolio by regular interaction with customers to achieve agreed financial targets (Sales, Margin).
  • Calling on customers on a regular basis, providing quotes and ensuring that enquiries and issues are followed up in a timely manner.
  • Maintain price files and advising customers of increases, managing expectations to ensure business is retained.
  • Produce a list of target accounts to canvas for new business & report on the progress of this list monthly. New business is a key part of this role.



Must haves:

  • Proven and demonstrable career success in a field-based sales environment.
  • Previous experience in retail food services or related field.
  • Influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate and to work on own initiative and plan workload including setting goals, time lines, and milestones as appropriate.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Full clean driving licence is essential.
